Well, I didn´t make it on time, but this one counts as a 4th of January post.
Another Cintiq and Flash. This time not so clean. I like the freshness of some lines and I didn´t want to lose it on clean up.
The composition still feels a bit weird though. The part on the right doesn´t look... err... right...

I wasn´t very pleased with yesterday´s post, so I spent some time last night trying to raise the bar!
It´s really cool that there´s Flash and a 21 inch Cintiq to rely on.

New Year´s Resolution!!

Happy 2009 Everybody!!

For this next year, I decided to post on a daily basis!
For every post, I will make a sketch, full illustration or an animation. I will also be posting some old stuff, but those won´t count for the, at least, 365 new pieces I will do.
For today, I have a quick sketch of my wife that has recenly started to make her own clothes.

Stop Motion is becomming very popular nowadays, so I´m being asked to follow this trend. Here´s 4 different spots we made with borrowed materials. All shot under a Canon 40D in the studio. Then we add some inserts made in flash.

Long Time no Post

I haven´t been doing nothing interesting lately, so decided to post my contribution to the AACS encryption key controversy...

Boys For the Jobs

Opening Credits for a Pilot Episode of a Live Action series.
Finnaly I had some time to work and we ended up experimenting a lot more.
My wife did all the after effects composing and I, storyboarded, animated, created the whole visual part, made the music, played, sang, etc etc etc...

One of those tough ones where I wanted to experiment a lot with the visuals but the client was constantly wanting me to move back for a more... traditional aproach.

After many battles lost, the only thing I kept in (I´m not even sure if the client noticed) were the benday dots.

Espadinhas Zethoven

Xmas time was aproaching, and the client needed a commercial for the next week. The whole Espadinhas team (me, plus an animator, an inbetweener, ink and paint person and 3D modeller) was working very hard to put on air a 40 second piece every working day (more about this soon, we ended up doing 190 episodes). They REALLY needed it, so, they canceled the show for a week to get the whole team working for this commercial. In that week, I had to storyboard the whole thing, make the animatic, show it to the client and start the whole production process. The Backgrounds are all in 3D that I had to sketch and supervise step by step all the scenes. There are also lots of sfx that take years to render and fine tune. On top of all that work, I had to make character design for the kids in the choir and animate all the main animation. This is what turned out...
